We’ll meet next at 2pm at The Rest on Friday 7th November when we’ll continue our study of the work of David Lean by viewing and discussing Oliver Twist (1948) starring Alec Guinness, Robert Newton and John Howard Davies. This is Dickens’ tale of a mistreated waif involved with arch fiend Fagan.. We’ll also meet at The Rest at 2pm on Friday 21st November when we’ll view and discuss Passionate Friends (1948) starring Ann Todd, Trevor Howard and Claude Rains. This is the first of three films Lean made with Ann Todd. In this film the heroine is forced to choose between luxury and love.
