At the Annual General Meeting to be held at The Rest on the afternoon of Wednesday 17th 2010 elections will be held for the offices of Chairman, Vice Chairman and Honorary Secretary and for six members of the committee. Every member has already received a nomination form with the February newsletter. Members wishing to stand for election to any of these positions or wishing to nominate another member or members should ensure that the form is filled in appropriately and that it is received by Jan Fletcher, 32 West Park Drive, Porthcawl CF36 3RG by Monday 8th March 2010.
The members elected will serve from the AGM 2010 until the AGM 2013. The duties of the Chairman, Vice Chairman and Honorary Secretary are those normally associated with such positions. Committee members will be expected to attend the monthly meetings of the committee and to help to ensure that the U3A progresses in accordance with the current and future development plans approved by the membership as a whole. Members of the present committee also give practical assistance to the U3A by acting as interest / study group convenors, organising visits or events, providing administrative support and helping in a variety of other ways. As Porthcawl U3A is a registered charity, all members of the committee have responsibility in law as charity trustees.
